Volunteer to Help

Could you help the Bookham & Leatherhead Branch raise funds to support the equipping and training of our crews, give life saving messages to children or spread awareness of the work we do among our local community?

There are lots of opportunities to help if you have ideas about fund-raising activities, or by helping us at local village events or at our own fundraising events, giving talks to local groups or helping to save the lives of young people through our education programme. A message given today could save a life tomorrow.

We also have these specific roles we are currently looking to recruit:-

Volunteer Branch Secretary

Our Bookham & Leatherhead fundraising branch is currently looking for a motivated Volunteer Branch Secretary to be a key member of the team running the successful fundraising branch.  As the principal contact for the fundraising volunteers and the primary point of contact between the branch and the community support team, you will play a key role in ensuring effective communication by distributing information to branch members, taking notes at meetings and placing printing and materials orders.  You will be highly organised and efficient, used to meeting deadlines and have an enthusiasm for assisting at fundraising events and activities.

You will work within the committee to decide, put in place and see through the annual programme of events and collections.  This involves making sure the branch gets the various licences it needs in good time and communicating with the branch volunteers who will be taking part.  You will be able to develop this exciting role to suit the time and skills you have available and to develop these skills with training provided.

Whether you have experience in administration or secretarial work, or you want to develop such skills, this could be a role for you.

This is a great opportunity to really make a difference by raising vital funds for our volunteer crew members and lifeguards.

Volunteer Fundraising Team Member

Our Bookham & Leatherhead fundraising branch is currently looking for Volunteer Fundraising Team Members.  Becoming part of your local fundraising branch could offer you an opportunity to improve your CV, meet new people, learn new skills or just have fun with fundraising in your community.  We only ask you to give whatever time your commitments allow.

Do you want to volunteer in your local community?  Do you want to have fun suggesting, planning or assisting at fundraising events and activities, but prefer to be a team player rather than a team leader?  If so, joining our local fundraising team may be just the fit for you!

As a Volunteer Fundraiser you should enjoy meeting and talking to people, or want to develop these skills, and want to be an ambassador for the RNLI in the local community.  Your friendly and welcoming nature will be put to good use helping with High Street and supermarket collections in Bookham, Leatherhead or Fetcham.  For a collection we ask each collector to give two hours of their time collecting donations and generating support within the local community.

Volunteer Collections Organiser

Our Bookham & Leatherhead fundraising team is currently looking for a motivated Volunteer Collections Organiser to support the branch secretary by arranging the various collections in our local high streets, supermarkets and railway stations throughout the year and arranging with volunteers to do the collecting. This is an opportunity to get involved in organising these important fundraising activities for our branch.  Also, it is your chance to meet a variety of people and spread the word about the fantastic work the RNLI does to save lives – see the BBC TV programmes!

As a Volunteer Collections Organiser you should enjoy planning and organising, or want to develop these skills, and be prepared to work as part of a team.  This interesting role will be varied and suit someone who already has or would like to develop experience  in planning and organising.  This is a great opportunity to really make a difference by raising vital funds for our volunteer crew members and lifeguards.
